Fun Fact:
The 2009 Youth of the Year Award has been awarded to Jessica Pereira.
Jessica Pereira, a senior at B.M.C. Durfee High School, is a peer leader in the Citizens for Citizens youth group Safe Teen Health. The highly motivated young woman is a role model not only for the members of Safe Teen Health, but for her peers in other youth leadership groups as well as the youth she is reaching through programming. Whether it’s increasing awareness about the importance of family planning, helping the less fortunate or volunteering to make Fall River a better place, Jessica is truly engaged in the community. In addition to the family planning programming and advocacy work, she is involved in many community service projects such as St. Michael’s Soup Kitchen, CFC’s Operation Christmas, World Aids Day events, and Forever Paws.
